Rowsend privacy policy
Last updated 12 October 2026.
Rowsend, based in India (“Rowsend”, “we”), makes the Rowsend desktop app and runs Rowsend Cloud. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it. Questions: hello@rowsend.com.
The short version
- The app keeps your data on your computer. Your contacts, campaigns, templates, database connection and credentials never reach us, unless you ask Cloud to send for you while your computer is off.
- Licensing sends us a little about your computer, so the trial and your license work.
- Rowsend Cloud is optional. If you use it, it keeps only what it needs to handle the parts of sending that need a public address.
- We don’t sell data or use it for advertising, and Rowsend doesn’t track opens or clicks.
What we collect
Licensing. To run the trial and check your license, the app sends us identifiers for your computer that don’t reveal who you are, and your license key when you activate one. We don’t link these to your email unless you also sign in to Rowsend Cloud.
Your Cloud account. If you sign in to Rowsend Cloud: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with GitHub or Google; the computers you connect; and your plan and subscription status from our payment provider.
What Cloud needs to send. If you use Cloud, it handles your campaigns’ recipient addresses and messages while sending, records unsubscribes, bounces and spam complaints so those people aren’t emailed again, stores the images you upload for emails, and counts what you send for fair use.
Sending credentials. Cloud uses your email provider’s credentials only while it sends for you. It keeps them, encrypted, only if you ask it to send while your computer is off, and deletes them when you stop or leave Cloud.
This website. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, page and browser, to run and protect the site. If you allow analytics in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit; until then no analytics script loads and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings on this website.
Support. If you write to us, we keep the conversation so we can help.
People who receive your email
When someone you emailed unsubscribes, complains, or their mail server reports a bounce, Cloud records what’s needed to act on it. For these people you’re the controller: you decide what’s sent and to whom, and you’re responsible for having permission to email them. We process their data on your behalf. If you need a data processing agreement, write to us.
How long we keep it
- Cloud keeps sending records only as long as it needs them to match late bounces, and unsubscribes, bounces and images until you delete the project or your account.
- When you stop paying for Cloud, unsubscribe links, bounce handling and images in mail you’ve already sent keep working for 60 days, then your Cloud data is deleted. Your account stays so you can come back.
- Deleting your Cloud account deletes your Cloud data straight away. Copies in backups are gone within 7 days.
- We keep licensing records so reinstalling can’t restart a trial and your license keeps working on a new computer.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run Rowsend, and share with each only what its part needs:
- Payments. Dodo Payments sells licenses and Cloud subscriptions as merchant of record, so your payment details go to them, not us.
- Hosting and storage for Rowsend Cloud, its images and backups, and this website. Cloud runs in the United States.
- Email delivery for Cloud’s sign-in links and account notices, and for receiving bounce mail.
- Sign-in, through GitHub or Google if you choose them.
- App downloads and updates, through GitHub, which sees your IP address when you download Rowsend or the app checks for a new version.
- Analytics on this website, only if you allow it.
Your own email provider and database are services you choose and contract with directly. Some of these services process data outside your country. Where the law requires it, they use safeguards such as the EU’s standard contractual clauses.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
Why we process it
Where laws such as the GDPR ask for a legal basis:
- To provide what you asked for (our contract with you): licensing, your Cloud account and sending.
- Our legitimate interests: preventing trial and license abuse, keeping Rowsend secure, and enforcing fair use.
- Your consent: analytics on this website, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent, by writing to hello@rowsend.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. You can also delete most of it yourself from the app, including your whole Cloud account.
If you think we’ve handled your data wrongly, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In India, write to us first at hello@rowsend.com, our contact for grievances under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act; you can then take it to the Data Protection Board of India.
Rowsend isn’t meant for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We’ll post changes here and, for significant ones, tell Cloud account holders by email before they take effect.
