Editor and blocks
A campaign opens as a draft in the editor. The envelope sits on top, the email in the middle and the send checks on the right.

The envelope
Section titled “The envelope”| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| From | Starts as the project’s sender. You can change it per campaign. |
| To | The segments to include and exclude. Change opens the audience, and the count beside it is how many contacts it reaches right now. |
| Topic | The kind of email this is. See Topics and unsubscribes. |
| Subject | The subject line. Insert field adds a merge field. |
| Preview text | The line inbox lists show after the subject. It’s hidden in the email itself. |
Blocks
Section titled “Blocks”Type / in the body, or click + beside a line, to add a block:
| Block | What it does |
|---|---|
| Text, Heading 1–3, lists, Quote | Ordinary text |
| Large text | A bigger paragraph for an opening line |
| Button | A link styled in your brand’s accent color |
| Image | Uploaded from your computer or loaded from a URL, with alt text |
| Callout | A tinted box for something that matters |
| Divider, Spacer | Space and lines between sections |
| Logo, Social links | Your brand’s logo and social links, from Project settings → Brand |
| Unsubscribe link, Preferences link, Mailing address | Places those footer lines yourself. See Mailing address and footer tags. |
New campaigns start with your logo, a paragraph and your social links. They’re ordinary blocks, so you can move or delete them. Blocks you select show a toolbar for alignment and style; the Social block’s toolbar picks dark, gray or brand-colored icons.
Undo and Redo sit above the body.
Merge fields
Section titled “Merge fields”{{name}}, {{email}} and any custom field, such as {{plan}}, fill in from each contact when the campaign sends. Pick them from Insert field, or type them. A contact without the field gets nothing in its place, so write sentences that still read well without it.
Images
Section titled “Images”Uploading an image needs the companion on a server or Rowsend Cloud, because your recipients’ mail apps load it from there. With the companion on your computer, use Use an image URL with an image that’s already public. Rowsend accepts PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP, up to 5 MB, but not SVG, which most mail apps don’t show.
Images you upload stay in the project, so you can use them again: choose Choose from your images in the image menu, or Your images for the brand logo. Project settings → Images lists them all with where each one is used. Click one to see it full size, copy its link, or rename it by clicking its name; renaming never changes the link, so emails that use it are unaffected. Deleting one there breaks it in every email that uses it, including ones already sent, so Rowsend names those emails and asks first.
Give every image alt text. Mail apps show it when they block images, and screen readers read it out.
HTML designs
Section titled “HTML designs”Switch from Blocks to HTML to paste or write a complete email design, such as one exported from another tool. The body has to be empty to switch. Rowsend:
- removes scripts and anything else mail apps don’t allow, every time you save
- moves your CSS into inline styles when it sends, since many mail apps ignore
<style>blocks - adds the mailing address and unsubscribe lines before
</body>, unless your design places them with footer tags
Plain-text version is optional. Leave it empty and Rowsend writes one from the HTML.
Preview and checks
Section titled “Preview and checks”Desktop and Phone switch the preview width. The preview goes through the same steps as a real send, with merge fields filled from one of your contacts.
The side panel lists what still needs attention before you can send: a sender, at least one recipient, the unsubscribe link and the mailing address. It also warns about images with no alt text, and images that aren’t on an https address, which Gmail and many other mail apps block.
