Rowsend Cloud
Rowsend sends your email through your own provider: Amazon SES, Postmark, Mailgun or SMTP. Some parts of sending need a public address on the internet, though: the unsubscribe link in each email, the place bounces come back to, and images in your messages. Rowsend Cloud provides that address, so you don’t have to run a server.
See This computer for how Cloud compares with running the companion on your computer or your own server.
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”- In Settings → Companion, choose Cloud, then Sign in to Rowsend Cloud.
- Your browser opens Rowsend Cloud. Sign in with GitHub, Google or an email link.
- Check that the code on the page matches the one in Rowsend, then click Approve.
- Back in Rowsend, click Start free month if your license includes one, then Use Rowsend Cloud.
A license comes with 30 days of Cloud, no card needed. After that, subscribe for $90 a year or $9 a month; either opens checkout. Manage subscription changes your card, shows invoices or cancels.
Your credentials
Section titled “Your credentials”Normally Cloud never stores your email provider credentials. Your computer sends them to Cloud while a campaign is going out, Cloud holds them in memory, and they expire about 30 seconds after your computer stops sending. That’s why, by default, scheduled campaigns need Rowsend running on your computer at the scheduled time.
Sending while your computer is off
Section titled “Sending while your computer is off”To have scheduled campaigns go out even when your computer is asleep or off, open Project settings → Sending and turn on Keep credentials on Rowsend Cloud.
What changes:
- Cloud keeps that project’s sending credentials, encrypted. It uses them only for that project’s scheduled campaigns and their bounces.
- Recipients are fixed when you schedule. Rowsend works out who gets the campaign at that moment and sends Cloud the finished messages. Contacts synced or segments changed after that don’t affect it. To pick up changes, unschedule and schedule it again.
- Results show up when you next open Rowsend.
Turning it off deletes the credentials from Cloud. Campaigns already scheduled stay scheduled, but then only go out if your computer is on at the time.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”Each plan includes 100,000 sends and 1 GB of hosted images a month. If you go over, Rowsend Cloud emails you and keeps sending. If it happens again the next month, new sends pause until the month after. Write to hello@rowsend.com if you need more.
When your plan ends
Section titled “When your plan ends”Cloud stops sending new campaigns for you, and Rowsend says so when you try. Everything in mail you’ve already sent keeps working for 60 days: unsubscribe links, one-click unsubscribe, bounce handling and images. After 60 days your Cloud data is deleted, but your account stays, so subscribing again picks up where you left off. You can always switch back to sending from your computer or your own server.
Signing out and deleting your account
Section titled “Signing out and deleting your account”Sign out in Settings → Companion revokes this computer’s access. Delete Cloud account removes your account and everything Cloud holds for you. Both wait until no campaign is still sending through Cloud or scheduled on it.
If you’ve sent email through Cloud, its unsubscribe links record there, and Rowsend needs you signed in to read them. So switch to another companion first; Rowsend keeps counting Cloud’s unsubscribes for 30 days, and you can sign out after that, or stop counting early in Settings → Companion. See Switching companions.
If Cloud is down
Section titled “If Cloud is down”Check the status page. Your projects and campaigns are on your computer and keep working; only sending through Cloud waits. Questions: hello@rowsend.com.
