Mailing address and footer tags
Every campaign ends with two lines Rowsend adds when it sends:
- Your mailing address. The US CAN-SPAM Act and Canada’s CASL require a postal address in marketing email. Set it in Project settings → Brand. Rowsend won’t send or schedule a campaign without one.
- An unsubscribe line, with a link when the companion runs on a server or Rowsend Cloud, or a “reply to unsubscribe” sentence when it runs on your computer. With more than one topic, it also links the preferences page.
Each email also carries List-Unsubscribe headers, which is how Gmail, Yahoo and others show their own Unsubscribe button. With a public companion that button unsubscribes in one click.
Turning them off
Section titled “Turning them off”Some email isn’t marketing, such as an account notice or a receipt, and doesn’t need either line. In the editor’s side panel, under Footer, switch off Unsubscribe link or Mailing address for that campaign. The send dialog reminds you before it goes out, and the Campaigns list marks a campaign with no unsubscribe footer.
Only you can turn them off. AI agents can’t, and any change an agent makes to the campaign turns both back on.
Footer tags
Section titled “Footer tags”To place these lines inside your own design, use a footer tag:
| Tag | Becomes |
|---|---|
{{unsubscribe_url}} |
The recipient’s unsubscribe link |
{{preferences_url}} |
The recipient’s preferences page |
{{mailing_address}} |
Your mailing address |
In the block editor, add the Unsubscribe link, Preferences link or Mailing address block. In an HTML design, pick them from Insert field, for example <a href="{{unsubscribe_url}}">Unsubscribe</a>.
When your design places a tag, Rowsend leaves out its own line for it. A tag for a line you switched off comes out empty. The List-Unsubscribe headers go out either way.
The preview warns you if a tag sits inside something hidden, such as an element styled display: none, since recipients still need to be able to find it.
