Postgres
For Postgres outside Supabase, Neon and PlanetScale, choose Other Postgres. Rowsend’s setup SQL creates a view and a read-only login, the same way as on Supabase.
If the host you paste is a known platform, Rowsend applies that platform’s rules anyway.
1. Paste a connection string
Section titled “1. Paste a connection string”Use a login that can create roles, such as the database owner. In Rowsend, open Contacts, click Connect a database, choose Other Postgres, paste the connection string and click Continue.
Rowsend uses this login once, to list your tables. It doesn’t save the password.
2. Choose what Rowsend reads
Section titled “2. Choose what Rowsend reads”Pick a table and its email and last-changed columns, join a second table if you like, and tick any extra columns. The select must return id, email and updated_at. See How syncing works.
3. Run the setup SQL
Section titled “3. Run the setup SQL”Click Copy SQL and run it in your database as the same login. It:
- creates a
rowsendschema with acontactsview - creates
rowsend_reader, a login whose sessions are read-only and which can only read that view
The SQL holds a hash of the password, not the password.
4. Test and connect
Section titled “4. Test and connect”Click Test and connect. Rowsend connects as rowsend_reader and syncs.
Your database has to accept connections from your computer. On a cloud host, allow your IP address if it limits who can connect.
